Dirty Dozen
The scene
Pittsburgh’s grassroots racing follows its hills: the Dirty Dozen, founded in 1983, scores the first riders up each of 13 steep city streets every October. The city’s alleycats come from community groups, with Pittsburgh Babes on Bikes running a February race for women and under-represented gender identity riders since 2014 and the Free Ride bike collective holding the Scrap Cat in June 2026, both giving entry fees to local causes. Most races take entries on BikeReg.

How races get in here
The directory is curated by ALLEYKAT. Races timed on the app appear in their city on their own once they have a date or have been run, and everything else is added by hand after we have checked it against the organiser’s own page. There is no form and no fee.
